Biography of Gordon Korman

Born in Toronto, Canada, on February 8, 1953, author Gordon Korman currently lives in New York City. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University and attended Brown University as a graduate student in 1982.

Before becoming an author, he was a teacher at Eastern District High School.

In addition to writing books for children and young adults, he has also written screenplays for television shows including Smallville, Big Wolf on Campus, The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Goosebumps: Night of the Living Dummy II (1996), Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask (1997), Goosebumps: The Headless Ghost (1998), Goosebumps: A Shocker on Shock Street (1999) and Goosebumps: Attack of the Mutant (2000).

He is married to Rhonda Cohen with whom he has two sons named Adam and Jordan who were born in 1987 and 1990 respectively. They live in New York City where they run their own publishing company called Stone Arch Books.

Gordon Korman’s first novel, No Coins Please, was published when he was seventeen years old and since then he has gone on to write over fifty novels for both children and young adults. Two of his most famous series include Island (which consists of three novels) and Dive (which consists of four novels). He also wrote several standalone novels such as Son of Interflux which won him a place among YALSA’s Best Books For Young Adults list for 2009.
