The Hidden Kingdom (Wings of Fire) (Book #3)
The Hidden Kingdom (Wings of Fire) (Book #3) by Tui T. Sutherland – The third and final book in the Wings of Fire series, The Hidden Kingdom is a fitting end to an entertaining series. Readers who have followed Cricket through her development as a dragon and her ultimate destiny as one of Luna’s special NightWing soldiers will be satisfied with how things wrap up in The Hidden Kingdom.
Those who have not read any or all of the previous books in this series should consider reading them before reading The Hidden Kingdom (the first two novels in particular provide background that helps bring depth to Tui T. Sutherland’s world). This book is full of action, danger, romance, and betrayal. Fans are sure to love it!
The third installment of Tui T. Sutherland’s Wings of Fire series is a fantastic read. Although, it may have been better to have read book one and two before reading book three, since a lot happened in book three that relied on you having knowledge from books one and two.
On top of which, I was also left with some unanswered questions which were answered in later books but probably could’ve answered in book three if I had read books one and two before reading it. At any rate, with no knowledge about them at all, The Hidden Kingdom still makes for an excellent read by itself.
Ugh! Why can’t I just enjoy a good book series without wanting to go on and write my own review? This third book in The Wings of Fire series is awesome! It follows Tsunami, Anemone, Kinkajou, Carnelian, and a few other dragonets on their quest to find where all dragons come from.
At first, it was kind of confusing as to what was going on because of all new characters being introduced. Also there were A LOT OF CHARACTERS!! (I feel like that’s always something I have to mention when talking about books by Tui T. Sutherland). There were some deaths that kind of shocked me, but it made sense in a way.
An epic conclusion to a fantastic series! The Hidden Kingdom is an exciting, page-turning final chapter to a remarkable series. Sutherland’s beautiful prose and quirky characters make for such a unique and memorable experience.
The novel begins with an extremely bittersweet tone but I think that really helped build up some anticipation for how things were going to play out. Things started off on a tearful note which then made me very anxious and uncomfortable.
However, there was so much intense action packed into these chapters; it was hard not to turn each page quickly just to see what happened next. It’s not often you can say that a book brought you from tears of sadness to tears of joy but with Wings of Fire, I definitely got my fill!
